A multi-stage system: a PP pre-filter, activated carbon and a hollow-fibre ultrafiltration membrane. As you drink, water passes through each layer to help reduce sediment, bacteria, protozoan parasites and microplastics above the tested filtration threshold, while the carbon improves taste by reducing chlorine and unpleasant odours. No batteries, electricity or chemicals — place the filter into an appropriate freshwater source and drink through the mouthpiece.
Appropriate freshwater sources: rivers and streams, lakes and natural springs, hotel taps, holiday rentals, public drinking fountains, campsites, festival refill stations and emergency water storage. No. The activated carbon helps improve taste and odour, but Klindrops is not a heavy-metal removal filter and should not be relied upon where heavy-metal contamination is suspected.
Backflush the filter with clean water following the supplied instructions, shake out the excess, let it dry thoroughly, then store with both protective caps fitted in a cool, dry place. Regular cleaning maintains flow rate and prolongs filter life.
With proper cleaning and normal use, one filter is designed to provide 5,000 litres of portable filtration. Replace the filter when the flow rate becomes noticeably reduced — replacement filters are available on subscription.
